Your Ultimate Mercury Retrograde Survival Kit

Hey guys, it’s Penny here. 2024’s first Mercury retrograde is here, and it is in full effect and will last until April 25th. If you are familiar with the retrogrades, usually they are depicted as a dreadful time. However, as with any celestial phenomenon, I believe retrogrades are a time to go inward and do self-reflection. In this post, I will be talking about what to expect and how to use the retrograde energy for your own good!

Mercury retrogrades are astrological phenomena where the planet Mercury appears to move backward in its orbit from our perspective on Earth (it’s just an optical illusion!) while transiting the zodiac sign of Aries. As each sign has its own unique qualities, a retrograde in this sign could have its own consequences.

What does Mercury represent in astrology?

Mercury rules communication, travel, learning, knowledge, and the mind. Since it represents communication and information, it epitomizes how we express ourselves, think, process information, and communicate with others. When it’s in retrograde, naturally, it can cause halts in these areas.

This retrograde will take place in the sign Aries. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and is associated with qualities such as assertiveness, impulsiveness, and leadership. When Mercury retrogrades in Aries, it tends to amplify these qualities and may bring about some challenges and opportunities related to communication, technology, and decision-making.

Communication challenges can arise. Aries is a sign known for its directness and sometimes impulsive speech. During this period, miscommunications, misunderstandings, and conflicts in communication may arise more easily. It's essential to be extra clear in your communication and avoid rushing into arguments or decisions. Try to be more mindful about what and how you speak.

Beware of impulsiveness. It’s not recommended to make important decisions on Mercury retrogrades, and Aries, in nature, is quick and impulsive, as it’s a fire sign, so it will be likely for you to jump to conclusions or make quick decisions, which you might regret later on.If it’s not planned beforehand, or if you have a chance to wait to make a decision until the retrograde passes, please consider doing so!It's advisable to take your time with important choices and avoid rushing into anything new during this period.

Spend this time reflecting. Retrogrades are excellent times for reflection, review, and revisiting unfinished business. Grab a notebook and a pen and do some self-reflection during this period. This might involve reconsidering past actions or projects related to self-expression, personal goals, or assertiveness. It's a time to reassess your approach and make any necessary adjustments.

Be careful with temperamental energy! Aries is a fiery sign associated with passion and temper. During Mercury retrograde in Aries, emotions may run high, and tempers may flare more easily. It's essential to practice patience, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence to avoid unnecessary conflicts. Be more willing to listen to what the other party is saying.

Double check your travel documents if you have made plans for travelling! As it’s likely that the retrograde time could create disruptions, make sure to double check if you’re booking a trip, or check your itinerary details to make sure everything is correct.

This is it for the Mercury survival kit! I hope this period will go smoothly for everyone. Again, retrogrades are not atrocious periods. If you learn how to turn it into your own good, you’ll actually achieve a lot of awareness about yourself!

Let’s meet in the comments below! Are you planning to do some self-reflection this month?

Until the next post,
